1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to your Mac.
  2. Open Finder
  3. Click your iPhone under "Locations" in the left sidebar.
  4. Tap “Trust the Device” (if prompted) and enter passcode
  5. Click “Trust” or “Continue” on your Mac.
  6. Go to the “General” tab in the Finder window.
  7. Under Backups, select: "Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac"
  8. Make sure "Encrypt local backup" is unchecked

If "Encrypt local backup" is checked and greyed out, you'll need to:

  1. Open Keychain Access (press Command + Space, type “Keychain Access”).
  2. Search for iPhone Backup or iOS Backup.
  3. Delete the relevant password.
  4. Return to Finder and try again.
