Sometimes, new hard drives need to be reformatted.

Here’s how you do that on a Mac

Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

Select your hard drive

Click “Erase”

Select “ExFAT” as this is great for compatibility with both Windows and Mac

Click “Erase”
